How can GMCU assist borrowers?

There are a variety of ways in which GMCU can help, including:

  • Assisting members to manage budgeting and repayments;
  • Putting in place arrangements to reduce, defer or restructure loan repayments for a period of time (up to six months for business borrowers, or three months for home loan borrowers with further review and potential deferral when the initial period is up).
    Your business can apply to access loans of up to three years’ duration with a temporary deferral of repayments to support business cashflow, as per the government guaranteed loan scheme.

Why does GMCU charge fees?

GMCU offers a different kind of banking which includes personal customer service, based right here in our community. There are two big differences in how we do that:

  • We provide convenient access for all members of our community via ten local branches where often there are limited or no services provided by other banks. These branches employ almost 60 local staff.
  • Our profit is injected back into the community to support local sporting clubs, local arts, community groups and causes instead of paying profits to shareholders.
Can I still come into my local branch to do my banking?

Our branches are still open; however in some cases this might mean that operating hours have been modified. Please continue to check the GMCU website for the current operating hours of your local branch.

What is GMCU doing to protect members in branch during the Covid-19 Pandemic?

Our ten branches remain open for business with our staff available to assist in branch or over the phone. Our branch premises are regularly sanitised, and we have put in place limits on the number of people who can be in each branch at one time. We appreciate your patience with these important steps to further protect our members, community and staff.

How can I pay bills and transfer money without visiting a branch?

There are a number of ways that you can use your accounts remotely. Our friendly staff are available to help you with a range of transactions you might need to make remotely and they can register you for access to the services you may need, such as internet banking. Is my cash safe in the bank?
